Plot Synopsis
Since Haiti’s independence, 200 years ago, music has been the country’s newswire. In January 2004, on the eve of the bicentennial independence celebrations, Haiti’s modern day troubadours are calling for President Aristide to stand down. In a country crushed by repression music is once more summoning up the spirit of revolution and carnival becomes the battleground where the president’s supporters are making their last stand. Shot with incredible immediacy, this documentary covers the ten weeks surrounding President Aristide’s departure following partisan musicians on both sides of the political divide.
