Plot Synopsis
The film focuses on the life and times of Waris Shah the 18th century poet from Punjab who was best known for his work Heer Ranjha based on the traditional folk tale of Heer and her lover Ranjha..
Heer is considered to be one of the best works of classical Punjabi literature. The story of Heer was also put to paper by several other writers, including Damodar Daas, Mukbal, Ahmed Gujjar, but Waris Shah's version is by far the most popular today.
After his successful venture with Juhi Chawla in Shaheed-e-Mohabbat, singer-turned-film maker Gurdas Mann once again acts in another Punjabi movie Waris Shah Ishq Da Waris detined to be popular at the UK box office.
Directed by Manoj Punj, the film has been written by Gurdas Mann while the music has been composed by Jaidev Kumar.
