Plot Synopsis

Laurent Pelly’s fresh and vibrant setting of Hänsel und Gretel is Glyndebourne’s first ever staging of Humperdinck’s masterpiece from the 2008 Festival. Like all great fairy tales, the story has darker underpinnings, evident in Humperdinck’s lush orchestral writing which accompanies the lost siblings’ journey through a shadowy world of unknown and limitless menace.
