Plot Synopsis

The first of a planned television movie series, but the only one to be directed by Italian horror maestro Dario Argento himself, Do You Like Hitchcock? tells the suspense-filled story of media student Giulio (Elio Germano) about to take an exam on the classic films of Alfred Hitchcock. Reaching for the DVD of Strangers on a Train for homework study in the local store, he meets two older women Sasha (Elisabetta Rochetti) and Federica (Chiara Conti) who also want to rent the same title. Later he realises Sasha lives opposite him and that she and Federica are getting very friendly indeed. Then Sasha's mother is brutally murdered and Guilio becomes convinced the two women have entered into a homicidal swap pact like the one in the Hitchcock masterpiece. And so begins a 'perfect murder' tale liberally peppered with fiendish bargains, double-cross, McGuffins and mistaken identity culled from the entire Hitchcock back catalogue (and that of his main copier Brian De Palma) navigating the themes contained in Rear Window, Marnie, Psycho and Dial M for Murder. The 'Italian Hitchcock' finally pays his dues in this high style pristine looking giallo with a fabulous Pino Donaggio score.
