Plot Synopsis
Where is the geographical centre of Europe? No fewer than a dozen towns within a radius of two thousand miles claim this distinction. Director Stanislaw Mucha and his film team take off on an entertaining odyssey, in search of ‘the one-and-only’, the ‘true centre’ of Europe. Zig-zagging across Central Europe, from Germany to the Ukraine, they follow a trail of errors, presumptions and bizarre self-assertions, meeting many eccentrics and visionaries, local patriots and European utopians. The Centre tells the story of people outside Europe’s former borders and inside the new ones, people whose increasingly desperate struggle for survival has simply enhanced their composure and their sense of humour.
