Plot Synopsis
Berlin 2001. Martin is released after 11 years in an East German prison where he witnessed the fall of the Berlin Wall via his small TV set. Issued with items he had in possession at the time of his arrest - an East German ID card, driver's licence, some East German money - Martin is full of hope when he returns home. He plans to find his estranged wife, meet his son and get a job but soon realizes that everything has changed in many unexpected ways. The 'New Berlin' has already taken over and the 'Old East Berlin' clings desperately to its last remaining features. His eleven-year absence is like a time wrap, and Martin runs into one difficulty after another while finding his place in this 'new' world.
