Oysterband
Sunday 10 October 2010, 7.30pm
The once bad boys of folk and rock, Oysterband have grown into the role of musical custodians and godfathers of folk.
With deep roots in the English folk scene, they are one of the few groups that combine the political and lyrical fire of punk with the melody of traditional music.
Recent concerts have given us some of their best-ever vocal work....and unexpected instrumentation, with guitars, accordion, harmonica, violins and cello matched with anything from kantele to harmonium, African mbira to pedal-steel guitar and marching band percussion.
At the Pavilion expect an acoustic journey through classic and rare gems from the Oysterband songbook.
Seats: £19.50 - Booking opens 15th June
Original Lonnie Donegan Band with Peter Donegan
Saturday 23rd October, 7:30pm start
RESCHEDULED FROM 24th APRIL
"Lonnie Donegan, who died in 2002, played music for more than 50 years, and during that time he inspired nearly every major musician alive today."
The band at the Pavilion will include original members Chris Hunt (drums) Sticky Wicket (percussion & wash-board) Paul Henry (guitar) and Eddie Masters (bass) and features Lonnie's son Peter Donegan (lead vocals, acoustic guitar, banjo, harmonica & mandolin)
Having played with his own band since 2006, Peter recently decided that he wanted to take a different musical direction and teamed up with the original Lonnie Donegan Band to tour and record a new album.
Peter had played with the band before his father's death and went on the last tour with them, performing with, amongst others, the legendary Van Morrison, and at the sell-out tribute to Lonnie at the Royal Albert Hall, Peter found himself on stage with some of the greats of international music - Billy Bragg, Mark Knopfler, Joe Cocker, Roger Daltrey, plus many more who came to pay their respects to their great mentor.
Our special guests to open the show are The Two Bob Band

Mystery of a Woman
Saturday 6 November, 7.30pm
The Mystery of a Woman, this is their second adventure into
the wonderful and mysterious world between a man and woman. The first production
was called Love and Life and was performed at the Underground Theatre in 2009 to a
full house, which suggested that all that was needed in Life was Love between two
people. However, this second production suggests that life is not that simple! The
show contains Narration, Poems, Plays and Eleven Wonderful Songs with Live
Music, all about the confusion and chaos that can occur between a man and a woman.
Great Acting! Glorious Singing! John Wilders, the Author, Director and Narrator says
that we will probably recognise ourselves somewhere in this show!

A very rare concert appearance by OSIBISA...CANCELLED
Saturday 13 November 2010, 7.30pm
Translated from Ghanaian, Osibisa means 'criss-cross rhythms that explode with happiness'.
The Osibisa poly-rhythms and percussive breaks were to be an integral feature of the disco boom that was to follow in the late 1970s, and their unique fusion of African, Caribbean, rock, jazz, Latin and R&B paved the way for other potent music forces such as Bob Marley and the emergence of African music in the 1980's. Indeed Osibisa are seen by many as the Godfathers of World Music.
As well as a string of world-wide selling albums and memorable singles such as, Dance the Body Music, Sunshine Day which has had dozens of cover versions, and Music for Gong Gong, part of the band’s enduring success has been it's highly energetic and extravagant stage shows.
Founding member and saxophonist, Teddy Osei, will bring a seven strong band to the Pavilion, that includes guitars, keyboards, percussion, African drums and brass section to give us such a show.
Don’t miss it - it’s a one off!

The Albion Band at Christmas
Saturday 11 December 2010
The Pavilion's "famous" Christmas show - this year brings festive cheer from past and present members of the Albion Band and Fairport Convention, including the "guvnor" himself, Ashley Hutchings.
Ashley along with Simon Nicol, another of the evening's performers, co-founded Fairport Convention back in the 60's. Forty years on and Simon is still fronting the band.
Ashley Hutchings meanwhile went on to form, amongst others, Steeleye Span, the Etchingham Steam Band, the Albion Band and Albion Dance Band, the Morris-On Band, the Ridgeriders and coming right up to date, the Rainbow Chasers.
Kellie While, who also did her bit with the Albion Band and Simon Care, who has lent his talents to a number of bands, including the Albion Dance Band, Phil Beer Band, Edward II and Show Of Hands complete the line-up to give us a truly festive treat with a programme of traditional Christmas music and celebration.......
